Alberta allocates $20.7 million for sexual violence and abuse support
The Government of Alberta has announced $20.7 million in provincial funding to support 23 organizations dedicated to assisting those impacted by sexual violence and abuse.
Of this total, $17 million is allocated to 15 sexual assault centres and the Association of Alberta Sexual Assault Services. This amount includes $3.3 million toward a government mandate to increase funding for these centres by $10 million by the 2028-29 fiscal year.
An additional $3.7 million in annual funding will be distributed among eight child advocacy centres. These funds aim to improve access to specialized, coordinated care for children, youth, and families. Organizations such as the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre and the Sendero Centre are among the recipients of this investment.
