Alberta allocates $38.5M for Beaumont safety training campus

The Alberta government has announced $38.5 million in funding for the City of Beaumont to develop infrastructure for the Beaumont Innovation Park. This project includes the establishment of the Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) Safety Campus.

The proposed campus will occupy 160 acres of land and is designed to provide specialized, hands-on training for commercial drivers and law enforcement. Planned facilities include an emergency vehicle operator track for high-speed training, a firearms range, scenario-based training areas, and dedicated commercial vehicle facilities.

Local officials, including Mayor Lisa Vanderkwaak, noted that the development is expected to serve as an economic boon for the community by diversifying the tax base and creating opportunities for both skilled professionals and laborers. The AMTA will be responsible for financing, building, and operating the safety campus.
