Alberta Basketball Hall of Fame inducts Veronica Den Oudsten, Leighann Reimer and Katherine Plouffe
The Alberta Basketball Hall of Fame announced its inaugural class of female inductees, to be honored at a gala on Aug. 29 at the Edmonton Expo Centre. Central Alberta natives Veronica Den Oudsten of Lacombe and Leighann Reimer of Stettler are among the ten women recognized for their university careers, including multiple CIAU and Canada West player‑of‑the‑year awards and national team appearances.
Edmonton native Katherine Plouffe, a former Marquette University star, also joins the class. Plouffe earned All‑America honors, scored over 1,700 points in college and represented Canada at the 2015 Pan American Games, the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship, and the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, as well as winning three FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series titles. The gala will celebrate their contributions to Canadian basketball and the sport’s growth nationally and internationally.
