Alberta extends energy rebate deadline to October 31

The Government of Alberta has extended the application deadline for the one-time Alberta Energy Rebate to October 31. According to Jason Nixon, president of the treasury board and minister of finance, more than 1.45 million residents have already received the payment.

Eligible two-adult households can receive $200 in flexible relief, with additional $100 rebates available for each eligible adult family member or child aged 18 or older living in the same home. To streamline the process, the government has added a third payment verification option to the online portal and allowed applicants to use their 2025 Notice of Assessment.

In addition to the rebate extension, the provincial government announced that its fuel tax relief program will resume on October 1. This program suspends the 13 cents per litre provincial fuel tax for the remainder of the year to mitigate rising energy prices.
