Alberta health officials warn of unlicensed medical services in Edmonton

Alberta health officials have issued a public alert regarding Max Klein, an unlicensed individual allegedly providing medical and aesthetic services from a home-based business in the Edmonton area. Officials warn that individuals who received injections, aesthetic procedures, or other health services from Klein may have been exposed to blood-borne pathogens, including Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV, and may face risks of injury or other health complications.

According to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, Klein has not held an active practice permit in the province since 2015. His registration was officially cancelled in 2022 following a tribunal finding that he had administered an illicit substance to a colleague without consent in 2015.

Anyone who received services from Klein is advised to contact Health Link at 811 or consult a healthcare provider to determine if testing or follow-up care is necessary. Those referred by Health Link may receive a full blood and body fluid exposure assessment through Primary Care Alberta.
