Alberta Health Services shuts down food security society in Raymond
Alberta Health Services has ordered the closure of the Southern Community Food Security Society in the Town of Raymond. The shutdown, effective August 17, 2026, follows an inspection that identified multiple public health concerns.
Reported issues included improper refrigeration of eggs, expired toddler formula, and improperly labeled or dented canned goods. Inspectors also noted that the facility was overcrowded, disorganized, and that access to hand-washing sinks was blocked, hindering the inspection process.
As a result of the closure, the organization and its associated thrift store will cease all operations, meaning no further food will be distributed through the charity.
