Alberta healthcare delegation visits South Korea for medical AI and preventive care talks

A delegation from the Government of Alberta, Canada, led by Minister of Primary and Preventive Health Justin Wright, visited South Korea to discuss cooperation in medical technology and preventive healthcare systems.

During a visit to the Wonju Medical Industry Support Center (WMIT), the delegation explored the medical device industry infrastructure in Wonju, focusing on potential collaboration in medical AI and digital healthcare. Discussions centered on linking Alberta’s preventive and primary care policies with Wonju’s capabilities in medical AI and digital health technology for joint research and market expansion.

Additionally, the delegation visited the KMI Korean Medical Institute to experience the South Korean comprehensive health screening system. The visit aimed to explore how KMI’s AI-based imaging and one-stop screening processes could align with Alberta’s preventive medicine policies and early cancer screening initiatives.
