Alberta police investigate child luring attempts and women's shelter homicide

Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Fort Saskatchewan are asking the public for help after two attempted child‑luring incidents near Ken Hodgins Park. The first occurred on July 30, 2026, when a man in a red truck approached a nine‑year‑old boy walking near Davis Street. The second happened on August 5, 2026, when a six‑year‑old girl was approached on Southpoint Boulevard. Both children escaped unharmed. Edmonton police are investigating a stabbing death at a women’s shelter in the Hamptons neighbourhood. The homicide occurred on July 26, 2026, when a woman was repeatedly stabbed outside a home. A second woman was arrested and charged with second‑degree murder, marking the first known homicide at an Alberta women’s shelter. Witnesses described a chaotic scene and the victim died at the scene.
