Alberta referendum results pending in West Yellowhead

Voting for the 2026 Alberta referendum has concluded in several areas, though results in the West Yellowhead riding—which includes Whitecourt, Edson, and Hinton—are pending due to polling delays.

In West Yellowhead, voting hours were extended at multiple locations, including the Whitecourt culture centre and various sites in Edson, to accommodate voters. Once polls close, Elections Alberta will begin the ballot counting process.

The referendum consists of ten questions presented to voters across the province. The tenth question has garnered significant attention, asking whether Alberta should remain in Canada or hold a second, binding independence referendum.
