Alberta transport of massive de-ethanizer to cause traffic delays

A massive de-ethanizer used in natural gas processing is being transported through central Alberta, potentially causing traffic delays between Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan. The 1.65-million-pound load is scheduled to move in stages starting Wednesday, August 12, at 11 p.m. from Dacro.

The oversized load measures 96.6 metres long, 10.5 metres high, and 7.7 metres wide, meaning it will occupy the entire width of the highway, including the shoulder. It will be transported on trailers equipped with 448 wheels and will travel at a maximum speed of 30 km/h accompanied by guide vehicles.

The transport schedule includes a night move on August 12, an off-duty period on August 13, and a final daytime move on August 14. Drivers are advised to check for up-to-date road information via 511.
