Alberti officials seek funding for National Route 5 highway
A proposal has been submitted to the Alberti Deliberative Council requesting official support for the completion of the National Route 5 highway. Civil engineer Oscar Potetti presented the initiative, which calls for the reactivation and completion of a 20-kilometer stretch between Mercedes and the Suipacha variant (kilometers 104 to 124).
The proposal asks the Council to pass a resolution directed at the National Deputies on the Budget and Finance Commission regarding the 2027 National Budget. Specifically, it suggests reallocating resources originally intended for the “Travesía Urbana de Mercedes” project to prioritize the highway completion, aiming to extend the existing dual carriageway and utilize previously committed external financing.
The initiative emphasizes a collective approach, stating that the demand should represent all communities along National Route 5 rather than a single city, seeking a common solution for the entire Mercedes-Santa Rosa corridor.
