Alberto Aquilani appointed head coach of Serie A club Sassuolo

Alberto Aquilani was confirmed as the new head coach of Italian Serie A side Sassuolo, taking on his first top‑flight managerial role after stints with Pisa and Catanzaro in the second division. The 41‑year‑old will now coach former teammate Domenico Berardi, who has made 424 appearances for Sassuolo, scoring 156 goals and providing 103 assists. Aquilani said meeting Berardi again “feels a little strange” but expressed honor and ambition to lead the club in the challenging league, promising to give his all for the fans and the team.
