Alberto Fernández and Fabiola Yáñez face complaints over pandemic-era aircraft parties

Former Argentine President Alberto Fernández and former First Lady Fabiola Yáñez have faced criminal complaints regarding alleged private celebrations held aboard the presidential aircraft, Tango 01, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The legal filing, submitted by lawyer Ignacio Barrios following a journalistic report by Luis Gasulla, alleges that these gatherings occurred while strict movement and social restrictions were in place.

The complaint highlights two specific dates: July 14 and August 10, 2020, while the aircraft was stationed at El Palomar. The July 14 incident reportedly coincided with Yáñez’s birthday celebration at the Quinta de Olivos. According to the allegations, the aircraft was prepared in the days leading up to the event with the installation of power equipment, catering including sushi, salmon, and cake, alcoholic beverages, and music, potentially involving aviation personnel and public funds.

Investigators aim to determine the extent of the involvement of officials and private individuals, specifically looking into whether public resources, services, or personnel were used to facilitate these private encounters.
