Alberto Fernández: Judge expands evidence in gender violence case
Federal Judge Daniel Rafecas has ordered new evidence collection in the gender violence case against former President Alberto Fernández, initiated by Fabiola Yañez.
The judge has requested reports from the Argentine Federal Police (PFA) regarding four agents who were responsible for the presidential couple's security. Additionally, Rafecas has requested the complete medical history of Fabiola Yañez from Sanatorio Otamendi covering the period between 2018 and 2024, during which the alleged incidents occurred.
Following the incorporation of this new evidence, the judge must re-evaluate Fernández's legal status to determine whether the case should proceed to an oral trial, or if a dismissal or a finding of lack of merit is appropriate. This follows a decision by the Buenos Aires Federal Chamber, which rejected Fernández's request to annul the case but approved the production of new evidence requested by the defense.
