Alberto Lamelas honored at Las Ventas bullring

Matador Alberto Lamelas received a lap of honor at the Las Ventas bullring in Madrid following a crowd petition during a breeders' challenge (desafío ganadero) on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

The event featured a competition between bulls from the Valdellán and Juan Luis Fraile ranches. Lamelas earned acclaim for his performance against a challenging bull from the Juan Luis Fraile ranch, characterized by deep, low-hand cape work and significant effort, though his use of the sword was noted as inaccurate.

Other matadors included Pérez Mota and José Carlos Venegas. Pérez Mota faced difficulties with a bull from the Juan Luis Fraile ranch that briefly tossed him, though he escaped uninjured. Venegas performed well with a bull from El Montecillo but failed to secure trophies due to improper use of the steel.
