Alberto Lizárraga, former Banda El Recodo member, dies at 75

Alberto ‘El Betón’ Lizárraga, a former member of the renowned Banda El Recodo and son of the group’s founder Don Cruz Lizárraga, has passed away at the age of 75. His death was confirmed by his family on August 12, 2026.

His brothers, Germán, José Ángel, and Poncho Lizárraga, shared tributes on social media, describing him as a companion and a carrier of their father’s musical legacy. Alberto had also pursued his own musical projects, including Banda Mr. Lobo. His son, José Cruz Lizárraga, announced he composed a song titled ‘El Lizárraga’ as a posthumous tribute to his father.

While the family has not officially disclosed the exact cause of death, it is noted that the musician had been facing age-related health issues and had been using a wheelchair. He had largely stepped away from public performances in recent years, with one of his last public appearances occurring in August 2025 in Mazatlán, Sinaloa.
