Alberto Núñez Feijóo accused of concealing party salaries and assets

Members of the Spanish People’s Party (PP) have been criticised for failing to disclose the extra salaries paid to party officials, including leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo. Spanish law requires high‑ranking politicians and political parties to publish their earnings and assets, but the PP’s internal records have not been updated since 2022. Feijóo’s last public declaration, made in August 2023, covered income from the previous fiscal year and listed a salary of around €150,000, rental income of €5,584, dividend earnings of €2,112, and holdings in investment funds and property. The party’s website does not publish the additional remuneration it pays to its senior figures, and the PP has not responded to inquiries about the missing information. Transparency advocates argue that this omission breaches the Transparency, Access to Public Information and Good Governance Act, which obliges parties to make the annual remuneration of their top officials public.

The investigation highlights a broader pattern of non‑compliance within the PP, raising questions about the accuracy of declared assets and the effectiveness of anti‑corruption safeguards in Spanish politics.
