Feijóo accuses Sánchez government of undermining the 1978 Constitution

Opposition leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo has launched a sharp critique of the Pedro Sánchez administration, accusing the government of being 'absent, inert and indifferent' to the ongoing migration crisis in Ceuta. During an event in Ribadeo, Feijóo alleged that the Executive is pursuing a 'destituent program' aimed at dismantling the 1978 constitutional system and replacing the current autonomous state model with a confederal plurinationality.

Feijóo further criticized the conduct of government ministers, specifically targeting Transport Minister Óscar Puente for what he described as unprecedented attacks against the Monarchy. The leader of the Partido Popular (PP) claimed the government is ruling without a proper budget or parliamentary consensus, effectively performing a 'constitutional mutation' through the abuse of Royal Decree-Laws.

In response to the political escalation, the PP has announced plans to use its majority in the Senate to propose the censure of five ministers, including the heads of Interior, Foreign Affairs, Defense, Health, and Equality. The government has countered these accusations, with spokesperson Elma Saiz accusing the PP of tensioning the migration crisis for political gain and making 'unprofessional' statements to secure media attention.
