Alberto Núñez Feijóo faces scrutiny over tax plans and postal voting

Spanish opposition leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo is facing scrutiny regarding his fiscal strategy following Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's announcement of a general election for November 29. Critics, including economist Carlos Rodriguez Braun, have questioned how the Popular Party intends to fund its promised tax cuts.

In Ceuta, Feijóo addressed concerns regarding the integrity of postal voting. While expressing confidence in postal workers, he stated he does not trust the management of Correos, citing ongoing judicial investigations involving former officials. Consequently, Feijóo announced that his party will request ‘additional measures’ from the Central Electoral Board (JEC) to ensure the security of the postal vote.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sánchez has framed the upcoming election as a choice between his progressive coalition and ‘economic backwardness’ and ‘reactionary extremism,’ arguing that opposing his government would harm workers and pensioners.
