Alberto Redondo Camacho leads study on breast implant replacement

Plastic surgeon Alberto Redondo Camacho has presented the results of a study regarding breast implant replacement surgery at the 58th National Congress of the Spanish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (SECPRE). The research, conducted with statistical support from University of Córdoba professor Pilar Font Ugalde, focused on 226 women treated at Redondo Camacho's clinic in Córdoba between 2021 and 2025.

The study investigated the causes and timing of implant failure. Findings indicate that prosthesis rupture was the primary reason for replacement, accounting for 60% of the cases. On average, ruptures occurred 12 years after the initial placement, with most instances falling within a window of 7 to 16 years post-implantation.
