Alberto Rojo declines congressional candidacy to focus on Guadalajara mayoralty

Alberto Rojo, the PSOE candidate for Mayor of Guadalajara and current Member of Congress, has announced that he will not run for a seat in either the Congress or the Senate in the upcoming general elections. Rojo stated that his “only and absolute priority is Guadalajara” and confirmed he has informed party leadership of his decision to focus on the city.

During his announcement, Rojo also addressed local fiscal policy, calling on the current mayor, Ana Guarinos, to reduce taxes. He claimed that previous tax increases under the current administration have resulted in an additional cost of 1,000 euros per year for households in Guadalajara.
