Alberto Stasi freed on parole; victim's family stays silent as Garlasco feels media fatigue

A Milan supervisory court granted Alberto Stasi, the ex‑boyfriend convicted of murdering Chiara Poggi in 2007, parole with supervision after more than ten years in prison. The decision allows him to reside outside the Bollate jail, work externally and avoid nightly incarceration.

The Poggi family, represented by lawyer Gian Luigi Tizzoni, declined to comment publicly. Rita Preda, the victim’s mother, told reporters she had “nothing to say” and appeared “exhausted” by the long‑standing media attention. Garlasco’s mayor Simone Molinari warned that “it has become very heavy; every post about Garlasco is full of stupid and useless spite” and urged the press to let the town heal.

The case continues to attract national coverage, with renewed investigations and a recent indictment of another suspect, Andrea Sempio, keeping the community under scrutiny.
