Alberto Stasi Released, Remaining Sentence to be Served Under Social Services

On June 13, the Tribunal of Surveillance in Milan authorized the release of Alberto Stasi, the former Bocconi student convicted of the 2007 murder of Chiara Poggi. After serving more than ten years of a 16‑year prison term, Stasi left the Bollate correctional facility through a side entrance to avoid media attention. He will now complete the balance of his sentence under supervised social‑service placement, complying with conditions set by the court and relevant authorities.

The decision follows a favorable opinion from the Milan public prosecutor and reflects the continued public interest in one of Italy’s most discussed criminal cases, which has remained in the news for nearly two decades.
