Albertsons appoints Meg Whitman as Executive Chair

Albertsons Companies, Inc. has appointed Meg Whitman to the newly created role of Executive Chair of its Board of Directors. Following this appointment, Kim Fennebresque has transitioned from Chair to Lead Independent Director, and the board has expanded from 10 to 11 members.

Whitman, a seasoned business leader with extensive experience in technology and strategic innovation, will support CEO Susan Morris and the senior leadership team. Her background includes serving as President and CEO of eBay, Inc. from 1998 to 2008, where she oversaw significant revenue growth, and leading Hewlett-Packard (HP) from 2011 to 2018.

The appointment is intended to bring proven technology expertise and transformation leadership to the retailer as it seeks to compete more effectively and strengthen its financial position.
