Kosovo PM Albin Kurti pelted with eggs during parliamentary session

Kosovo's parliamentary session was suspended on Saturday after an opposition lawmaker, Time Kadrijaj of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), threw eggs at acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti. The incident occurred while Kurti was requesting additional time to negotiate with other political parties to form a government and propose a candidate for parliamentary speaker.

Kurti, whose Vetëvendosje party won 53 to 58 seats in the June 7 elections, lacks the necessary majority to govern without coalition partners. He is currently in negotiations with the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), but talks remain stalled as the LDK reportedly demands the presidency as part of any agreement. Kurti expressed that he was willing to endure such incidents if it facilitated political dialogue and helped avoid new elections.

Kosovo has faced significant political instability, having held three elections in less than two years due to ongoing deadlocks in forming stable institutions.
