Albin Kurti's Vetëvendosje Leads Kosovo Election with 47% Vote

Early general elections were held in Kosovo on 7 June. The ruling Vetëvendosje movement, led by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, received 47.13 % of the vote, securing 53 seats and becoming the largest party in the 120‑member parliament.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) won 19.44 % (22 seats), the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) 16.69 % (18 seats), and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) 6.74 % (7 seats). Of the 20 seats reserved for minority communities, the Serbian list obtained nine seats and the Kosovo Democratic Turkish Party (KDTP) earned two seats with 0.70 % of the vote. KDTP leader Fikrim Damka and 21‑year‑old Fatma Taçi entered parliament.

With the results finalized, coalition negotiations are expected to begin. Vetëvendosje could form a government with KDTP and other community parties, but a two‑thirds majority will be needed for the presidential election, requiring talks with PDK, LDK and AAK as well.
