Albino Burmese Python Captured in Saltillo, Mexico
Environmental police in Saltillo responded to a citizen report of an albino Burmese python spotted on Juan Antonio de la Fuente and Ignacio La Llave streets around 7 a.m. on Thursday. Residents had alerted authorities via WhatsApp groups of the Citizen Security Committees.
Police officers located the snake, followed handling protocols and handed the animal over to the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA). Jessica Martínez Terrazas, head of the Environmental Police, highlighted the unit’s training with the Desert Museum on snake handling. She urged the public to refrain from harming such animals and to report future sightings through the municipal police phone lines, the security chatbot, or the WhatsApp groups.
