Alboraya suspends new tourist accommodation licenses

The municipality of Alboraya has suspended the processing and granting of building licenses for new hotel-related tertiary uses throughout the entire municipality. This suspension, effective from September 2, will last for one year and is extendable for a second year.

The measure follows technical studies aimed at addressing the impact of tourism on the local housing market. Local authorities intend to use this period to refine municipal regulations and develop a model that protects residential housing, prevents the excessive conversion of commercial spaces into tourist apartments, and ensures the quality of life for residents. The decision comes in response to significant increases in housing prices and rental costs over the last five years, which have made it difficult for local families and young people to find accommodation.
