Albox to Honor Veteran Journalist Paco Torregrosa on May 2, 2027

The Association of the Press of Almería will hold a tribute ceremony in Albox on Sunday, 2 May 2027 to honor long‑time provincial correspondent Paco Torregrosa Carrillo. The event coincides with Freedom of Expression Day and the 96th anniversary of the association, and was approved unanimously by the members and ratified by the board. President José Manuel Bretones has informed Torregrosa, his family and the Albox town hall, and the ceremony will be supported by the Provincial Deputation of Almería.

Torregrosa, born in Albox in 1944, began his journalism career at 19 with Radio Nacional de España in Murcia, joined the EFE news agency in 1979, and spent more than four decades as a literary‑sports correspondent for the newspaper Ideal, covering the Valle del Almanzora. He also contributed to national and regional media and is a member of the Union of Sports Journalists. He is married to Ana Carmona and has four children.
