Alcalá de Henares and Azuqueca de Henares announce local festival preparations

Authorities in Alcalá de Henares have announced an enhanced security plan for the 2026 Ferias y Fiestas. Mayor Judith Piquet and Security Councilor Orlena de Miguel confirmed a coordinated deployment involving the Local Police, National Police, Civil Guard, and Civil Protection. The plan includes 160 Local Police officers and over 1,000 National Police agents, utilizing drones, video surveillance, and undercover patrols to ensure safety in the historic center and fairgrounds.

In Azuqueca de Henares, the weekly market is being temporarily relocated to the vicinity of the San Miguel complex. This move, effective from August 12 until September 30, is intended to prevent the suspension of market activities during the upcoming September festivities. The market will occupy streets near Rafa Nadal and CEIP La Espiga, maintaining its usual operating hours and stall dimensions.
