Spanish towns open summer pools and start community sport programs

Municipal authorities in several Spanish towns opened their outdoor swimming pools for the summer season. In Reus, the facilities will stay open until 6 September with upgraded water‑quality monitoring and an extended calendar. Alcalá de Henares announced opening dates for three pools between 20 June and 1 July, requiring on‑site ticket purchase. Bolaños de Calatrava inaugurated its pool with a new 200 m² shaded area and an accessible walkway. Sueca invited local schoolchildren to free‑entry sessions before opening to the public, with detailed pricing for different age groups.

Alongside the pool openings, local sport initiatives were launched. Medina de las Torres began weekly aquagym classes on 26 June at its municipal pool, offering a low‑impact workout for all ages. Palos de la Frontera concluded its 2025‑26 municipal sports school programme, awarding medals to more than 1,200 participants and promoting summer camps and a new water park. In Daimiel, around 700 primary‑school pupils took part in a two‑day aquatic‑sport festival organized by the town’s sports, education and childhood departments.
