Alcalá de Henares hosts major cultural congress and Cervantine festivals
Alcalá de Henares is hosting several major cultural events. The city will serve as the national capital for the IV National Congress of Holy Week and World Heritage Cities from October 23 to 25. This congress aims to create a permanent working network among Spain's fifteen UNESCO World Heritage cities to address challenges such as the preservation of sculptural and textile heritage, tourism management, and generational transmission of popular traditions.
Additionally, the city is holding the Semana Cervantina, an event recognized as a festival of international tourist interest. The festivities include the Cervantine Market, noted as one of the largest period markets in Europe, featuring approximately 400 stalls, 300 reenactors, and various musical and theatrical performances scheduled through October 12.
