Alcalá de Henares celebrates Ferias 2026 with restored Giants troupe

The traditional Comparsa de Gigantes y Cabezudos (Giants and Big-Heads troupe) has returned for the 2026 Ferias de Alcalá in Alcalá de Henares. The festivities include neighborhood parades and a dedicated exhibition at the Capilla del Oidor.

Key highlights of this year's celebration include the restoration of the iconic figures Don Quijote and Sancho Panza. The restoration of Sancho Panza aimed to recreate his appearance from over 50 years ago by using historical graphic documentation to model clay sculptures, which were then reproduced in lightweight polyester. Additionally, a new figure, Maese Nicolás ‘el barbero’, has been added to the troupe.

The exhibition is open to the public, though the full collection may not be present during morning hours while the figures are participating in street parades.
