Alcalà de Xivert hosts 12th Hanging Tomato Fair

The 12th Hanging Tomato Fair (XII Fira de la Tomata de Penjar) has opened in Alcalà de Xivert, Spain. Held in the Church Square and surrounding streets, the event features local producers selling hanging tomatoes directly to the public.

In addition to the tomato sales, the fair includes seventy stalls offering local gastronomic products and artisanal crafts. A new highlight of this year's event is a showcooking space, which debuted with a tomato stew prepared by the Associació de la Dona Gaspatxera. Scheduled culinary demonstrations include chef Dani Roig and nutritionist Estela Jiménez.

Mayor Francisco Juan emphasized that the hanging tomato is a vital part of the town's family heritage and an asset to be preserved through such events. The inauguration was attended by provincial officials, including Vice President of the Provincial Council Andrés Martínez.
