Alcampo to Open New Hypermarket in Sant Adrià de Besòs by 2028

Alcampo will launch a new 15,000‑square‑metre hypermarket in Sant Adrià de Besòs, a suburb north of Barcelona, with construction set to begin in autumn 2026 and the store opening in autumn 2028. The project follows a land‑swap agreement with Inditex, signed on 30 July 2026, in which Alcampo cedes the former Schott Ibérica factory site and Inditex receives the former Alcampo premises to build offices for its brands Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Oysho and Lefties, covering about 164,098 sqm.

The swap includes a €9 million investment to remodel surrounding streets and construct two pedestrian bridges over the Rodalies railway lines, improving local mobility. The new Alcampo store will adopt a modern, compact layout without the traditional small‑shop gallery, aiming for a rapid transition that will close the old centre on a Saturday night and open the new facility the following Monday, preserving sales continuity. The development is expected to create new jobs and reshape the commercial landscape of the area.
