Alcantarilla modernizes urban art museum with accessibility technology
Alcantarilla has modernized its five-kilometer outdoor urban art museum by integrating universal accessibility technologies. The permanent, free-to-access route features QR codes next to artworks, allowing visitors to access audio guides and explanatory videos that include Spanish subtitles, sign language interpretation, and easy-to-read materials.
The museum includes several internationally recognized murals, such as works by Dale Grimshaw, Dulk, Jotalo, Kraser, and Rocket01. The artistic circuit is organized into six thematic areas, including nature, heritage, and social awareness. To ensure inclusivity, the project's explanatory publications have been adapted for easy reading with validation from people with intellectual disabilities.
