Alcazar Energy secures EUR 180 million for Štip wind farm

Alcazar Energy Partners has secured EUR 180 million in financing to launch the first phase of the Štip wind farm project in North Macedonia. This initial stage will involve the installation of 21 wind turbines with a capacity of 131 MW. The total investment for the entire three-phase project is estimated at over USD 500 million, aiming for a final capacity of 396 MW.

The financing for this first phase is provided by a consortium including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Erste Bank, and Sparkasse Bank. Once fully operational, the wind farm is expected to generate approximately 1 TWh of electricity annually, enough to power 148,000 households and reduce CO2 emissions by 570,000 tonnes per year.

Government officials, including Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, noted that the project is a critical step toward North Macedonia’s energy independence and green transition. The development is expected to create approximately 300 jobs and is slated for completion within the next three years.
