Alchera Technologies raises £2.7m for AI transport data platform
Cambridge-based Alchera Technologies has secured £2.7 million in seed funding to expand its AI-powered transport data platform. The funding round was led by Maven Capital Partners through the British Business Bank’s South West Investment Fund, with participation from the Bayes Entrepreneurship Fund, The FSE Group, and existing investor Cambridge Applied Research. Additionally, Innovate UK provided £700,000 in match funding.
Alchera’s software integrates data from sensor networks, traffic-management systems, and third-party feeds to assist local authorities and highway operators in road network management. The company claims its technology can predict motorway traffic, such as on the M25, up to two years in advance, enabling planners to schedule roadworks with minimal disruption.
Co-founder and CEO Anna Jordan stated that the platform aims to consolidate scattered data to move decision-making away from instinct and toward a complete data-driven picture. The company reported that its customer base has more than doubled over the past year.
