Alcobendas hosts 2026 World Climbing Series

The municipality of Alcobendas, near Madrid, staged the World Climbing Series Comunidad de Madrid 2026 at the Polideportivo Municipal José Caballero for a fourth consecutive day of competition. Around 300 athletes from more than 45 nations contested events in boulder, speed and lead climbing.

British climber Erin McNeice won the women’s boulder gold with 99.1 points, while Japan’s Sorato Anraku took the men’s boulder title with 99.3. In speed, China’s Shouhong Chu claimed gold, and the United States’ Emma Hunt secured the women’s speed crown with a 6.08‑second run. Spanish climber Erik Noya missed the podium, and Leslie Romeró narrowly missed a medal.

Local officials, including mayor Rocío García Alcántara and the Community of Madrid’s sports council, highlighted the event’s role in cementing Alcobendas as a global climbing hub, echoing the city’s status as the sport’s “world capital.”
