Spain expands municipal police and fire personnel across several regions

The Madrid City Council announced a major recruitment drive, targeting more than 1,400 new municipal police officers, 330 SAMUR health‑emergency staff and around 300 additional firefighters as part of its "Plan 10,000" to bring the capital's security and emergency forces over the 10,000‑person threshold. The mayor also unveiled plans for a new Integrated Security and Emergencies Centre (CISEM) with advanced communications and protection features.

In Andalusia, the regional government reported that the Infoca staffing plan for the province of Cádiz is now over 90 % covered, with roughly 20 positions to be filled in the coming days, bringing the provincial workforce to 441 and the total regional staff to 4,846. The effort, funded with about €3 million, extends contracts to twelve months and introduces new professional categories.

The municipality of Alcobendas increased its local police force to 221 officers, surpassing the recommended 1.8 officers per 1,000 residents, after adding 32 new agents.

Málaga will raise its fire brigade to 306 members by incorporating 50 newly trained firefighters; further recruitment rounds for 2024‑26 are already approved.

Separately, public forest firefighters in Madrid staged a protest demanding that the regional government honour labor commitments, convert temporary contracts to full‑time positions and provide salary improvements.
