Alcohol-fueled family murders reported in Delhi and Odisha, India

In New Delhi’s Maidan Garhi area, 60‑year‑old Chinta Devi was beaten to death by her son, Amod, after she refused to give him money for liquor. Police arrested Amod and opened a murder case.

In Bhubaneswar’s Mancheswar neighbourhood, 55‑year‑old labour contractor S Duryodhan was bludgeoned to death by his 25‑year‑old son, S Devaraj, following an argument over money for alcohol. Neighbours intervened, but Devaraj also attacked them. The son was arrested and charged with murder.
