Alcoholism support and prevention initiatives in Argentina and Mexico

Support initiatives and educational forums are addressing alcoholism and its impact on families in Argentina and Mexico.

In Paraná, Argentina, Al-Anon provides free and anonymous support meetings for individuals struggling with alcohol addiction and their family members. The group offers a confidential space for people to share experiences and find emotional support to manage the distress, anger, and sadness caused by a loved one's addiction. Meetings are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

In Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, the XI Alcoholism Forum will be held on August 28 at Pueblito Mexicano. Organized by the Comité de Cooperación con la Comunidad Profesional del Área Chihuahua Norte, the event aims to provide guidance through specialist lectures on public health, prevention, and the impact of alcohol on youth. This is followed by the XIX Congress of the Northern Chihuahua Area on August 29 and 30. Data from the Monte Fénix rehabilitation institution indicates that approximately 61.4 percent of youths aged 12 to 17 have begun consuming alcohol.
