Alcoi City Council approves forest fire prevention contracts

The Alcoi City Council Local Government Board has approved two minor contracts focused on environmental prevention and forest fire safety. These measures follow recent summer wildfires that impacted the region, including a fire in Ibi that affected the Font Roja Natural Park.

Climate Emergency Councilor Raül Llopis stated the actions aim to protect the environment while reinforcing security against potential emergencies. The contracts, totaling 30,128 euros, involve the opening and maintenance of firebreaks as outlined in the Alcoi Local Forest Fire Prevention Plan.

One project involves maintaining a firebreak along the Mariola road from Blai Giner to the Bocairent municipal boundary, supported by subsidies from the Generalitat Valenciana Forest Fund. Another project focuses on maintaining firebreak area 3, spanning from the Menejador area to the Sant Antoni recreational area, in alignment with the Font Roja Natural Park prevention plans.
