Brazilian Senate prepares to vote on data center and mineral policies

One major priority is the creation of the Special Tax Regime for Data Center Services (Redata) via PL 278/2026. This bill aims to provide tax incentives, including the suspension of Import Tax, PIS/Cofins, and IPI, to encourage domestic data center installation. This follows Ministry of Finance data indicating that 60% of Brazil's data and AI workloads are currently processed abroad.
Another critical focus is the National Policy for Critical and Strategic Minerals (PL 2780/2024). This policy seeks to foster the processing of minerals like lithium and cobalt within Brazil, potentially involving R$ 7 billion in investments.
