Alcorcón uses security cameras to combat illegal waste dumping

Municipal authorities in Alcorcón are utilizing security cameras to combat illegal waste dumping in vacant lots and industrial zones. Since April, the installation of four surveillance devices has led to the processing of 12 sanctioning files, with two additional cases currently under investigation.

The Municipal Police's environmental unit monitors these cameras to identify individuals abandoning debris and large-scale waste. Recent footage captured a vehicle discharging up to 40 bags of rubble under the cover of darkness, allowing officers to locate the responsible parties. Authorities have also noted large-scale earthmoving and heavy vehicle activity in industrial areas, prompting the installation of additional cameras to monitor entrances and exits.
