Alcoy launches ‘Els VIP del Valencià’ language challenge

The Alcoy City Council, through its Linguistic Normalization Cabinet, has opened registration for a new edition of ‘Els VIP del Valencià’. This initiative encourages citizens to reinforce the daily use of the Valencian language through a personal or collective challenge.

Participants commit to using Valencian exclusively for 21 days with a specific person, group, or in a particular daily situation of their choosing. The program is designed to help individuals maintain the language in contexts where they might otherwise switch to another tongue. The challenge is open to individuals over 16, as well as families, companies, associations, and groups. Students in the first and second years of Bachillerato may also participate with necessary authorization.

Registration is open from September 21 until October 23, with limited spots available. The program is intended for both native speakers and those currently learning the language. To support participants, the Linguistic Normalization Cabinet will provide training in linguistic assertiveness, along with personalized monitoring and guidance throughout the 21-day period.
