Alcoy man arrested for charging migrants for false residency registration
A 59-year-old man has been arrested in Alcoy, Spain, for allegedly charging irregular migrants to register them at his rented residence. The investigation began after an individual visited the National Police to inquire about documentation procedures for a foreign citizen, prompting officers to review the submitted paperwork.
Upon inspection, police discovered that several foreign nationals were registered at the man's address on various dates. Subsequent investigations confirmed that none of these individuals actually resided at the property. Authorities determined that the man was charging 250 euros per person to provide these fictitious registrations, which allowed individuals to bypass immigration laws and facilitate administrative documentation processes.
The suspect faces charges of forgery and crimes against the rights of foreign citizens.
