Alcázar de San Juan unveils art exhibition and launches 30th International Painting Contest
The historic Parish of Santa María in Alcázar de San Juan opened the exhibition “Miradas, tiempo y luz”, showcasing paintings and photographs inspired by the eight‑century‑old church. The show runs until 1 August, with a catalogue whose proceeds support a charitable project. The opening was attended by local councilors and featured a performance by the Camerata Cervantina, which interpreted a medieval cantiga linked to the parish.
Simultaneously, the city council announced the XXX International Painting Competition “Ciudad de Alcázar” 2026. Open to artists of any nationality, the contest accepts one original work per entrant until 12 July. After a digital first‑phase review, selected pieces must be delivered between 28 July and 17 August. Prizes are €6,000 for first place and €4,000 for second, with the winning works becoming part of the municipal collection and displayed in a September exhibition.
