Aldershot homeowner unable to sell flat due to unregistered freehold
A homeowner in Aldershot, Maxine Phipps, is unable to sell her flat at Nayeem Court after discovering the property's freehold was never properly registered. Phipps, who purchased the flat in 2012, found that the company connected to the original developer went bankrupt before her purchase, and the freehold title has reportedly passed to the Crown.
Resolving the issue could cost the four flat owners approximately £80,000. Phipps stated that while the property would be worth roughly £250,000 if the lease issue were resolved, it is currently deemed unsellable. She has sought assistance from solicitors, MPs, and Citizens Advice but has yet to find a solution, expressing significant concern regarding her retirement savings and her daughters' inheritance.
