Aldi and Lidl lead price reductions in German grocery market
Major German discounters Aldi and Lidl have initiated a price reduction for butter, lowering the cost of 250-gram private-label packs from 1.19 euros to 1.05 euros. This move, timed for late April, has prompted competitors like Norma to match the price, with Edeka and Netto also expected to follow suit.
In separate consumer testing, Stiftung Warentest highlighted several high-performing private-label products from Aldi Süd. The Milsani Alpighurt Kirsche Greek-style cherry yogurt received a 'Gut (2,1)' rating and was designated a 'Preistipp' (price tip) due to its strong value proposition. Other Aldi products receiving positive marks include certain dishwasher tablets and Dentitex Junior toothpaste.
